With world famous locations, Tanzania has become a hub for safaris, mountain trekking, and beach vacations. The hot spots for international travel are only the tip of the iceberg of all there is to see and do in Tanzania. Want to relax on the sandy beaches of Pemba Island? Interested in exploring the archeological dig site at Olduvai Gorge? How about visiting the red salt waters of Lake Natron or experiencing local Chagga culture on Mount Kilimanjaro? If you would like to adventure off the beaten path, we can work with you to design the perfect trip.
If you want to learn more about the rich culture of the Chagga people, our Chagga Tour is a great day excursion. You will watch local blacksmiths forge metal tools, visit the caves that Chagga people built to hide in during wars, and get a guided tour of a traditional home and learn about the history of the Chagga people.
The Chagga are also well known for their Arabica coffee. On the tour you will visit a coffee farm where you will participate in the making of coffee from picking to roasting to brewing. Taste your own fresh cup of coffee right where it came from!
Included in the day trip is also a visit to a local waterfall. You can choose to visit Kinuka Mori or Kilaysia. If you want to go on a longer walk, we recommend visiting Kilaysia, a secluded waterfall surrounded by lush greenery.
An easier walk than Kilaysia, Kinuka Mori waterfall is steeped in legend. Chagga history has it that a young woman who was pregnant out of wedlock decided to jump over the edge of the falls. At the last second she changed her mind and and turned to head to safety when a leopard discovered her, knocking her off the edge and into the rushing water. Statues stand at the falls to commemorate this legend.
